Telecom Egypt unveils Beyond Connectivity digital solutions at Cairo ICT 2026
Telecom Egypt unveiled sector-specific artificial intelligence platforms and showcased the expansion of its international submarine cable network at the 30th Cairo ICT exhibition.
In brief: Under its Beyond Connectivity banner, Telecom Egypt unveiled digital solutions across healthcare, education, transport and hospitality at the 30th Cairo ICT 2026 exhibition. The operator also showcased its international submarine cable network in Egypt, through which more than 90 per cent of intercontinental data traffic passes.
Egypt's first integrated telecommunications and information technology operator, Telecom Egypt (WE), unveiled a suite of digital solutions under the theme "Beyond Connectivity" at Cairo ICT 2026. The 30th Cairo International Technology Exhibition and Conference for the Middle East and Africa runs for four days, from 7 to 10 November, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
Digital platforms for healthcare, education and law
Under its "Beyond Connectivity" strategy, the operator is moving past core infrastructure to supply sector-specific systems tailored to individual industries. The portfolio combines artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and cybersecurity to improve service quality, raise operational efficiency and maintain business continuity.
For medical institutions, the company presented WE Smart Health, a platform linking internal systems. It uses AI to analyse data, supporting medical decision-making and resource management. In education, the WE Smart Education suite applies AI to content development, interactive classroom management, lecture analysis and student assessment. The tools aim to reduce teachers' workloads and help educational institutions make data-driven decisions. WE also introduced WE Legal AI for legal research and document management, displaying the tool alongside AI projects built with international technology companies.
Industrial, transport and hospitality packages
Across manufacturing, smart cities and smart communities, WE is exhibiting IoT systems and intelligent management tools that provide visibility into workflows, manage energy and assets, increase productivity and reduce waste. For ports and airports, the operator demonstrated vehicle and equipment tracking, asset management, smart surveillance and data analytics to help transport operators optimise resource use, minimise delays and raise safety standards.
In the hotel sector, the "Hospitality & Beyond" package combines network services, surveillance systems, interactive television, entertainment, guest communication, digital payments and smart screens to improve guest experiences and create new revenue streams. Separate commercial packages for small and medium-sized enterprises bundle secure connectivity, networking, surveillance, cloud services and business applications at costs matched to each company's scale. Across these enterprise services, WE also offers a cybersecurity portfolio designed to protect institutional networks, systems and data by detecting and responding to digital threats.
Cairo ICT 2026 and government AI plans
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the exhibition under the theme "AI in Action" and toured the participating company pavilions. In an opening keynote address, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy said Egypt aims to accelerate its digital transformation, strengthen the communications and information technology sector and expand AI adoption across economic and service sectors. The programme included a ministerial summit titled "AI in Action: From Success Stories to Nationwide Impact", where six ministers discussed strategies to expand AI applications across government and economic sectors.
Osama Kamal, chairman of exhibition organiser Trade Fairs International, said AI technologies offer practical solutions to real-world challenges by improving service delivery, raising productivity and opening new avenues for economic growth. Alongside corporate showcases for data centres, digital payments and fintech, the event provided dedicated platforms for startups, entrepreneurs and young technology talent.
Regional data transit and submarine cables
At its pavilion, Telecom Egypt presented its international network under the theme "International Infrastructure Ready to Carry AI Traffic". The system connects Asia, Africa and Europe through an integrated network of submarine cables, landing stations, landing points and diverse terrestrial transit routes, with more than 90 per cent of intercontinental data traffic passing through Egypt. To reinforce Egypt's position as a regional and global data transit hub and diversify corridors across Egyptian territory, the operator is expanding its new international network across the Sinai Peninsula and developing the Vastone submarine cable route across the Red Sea.
