In brief: Anthropic redeployed Claude Fable 5 to users worldwide, with global availability returning on 1 July after earlier US export controls were lifted. CNBC reported that controls on Fable 5 and Mythos 5 were lifted in late June. Anthropic also proposed an industry-wide framework for scoring the severity of AI jailbreaks, developed with Amazon, Microsoft, Google and other partners.

Anthropic has redeployed Claude Fable 5 to users worldwide, with the model returning to global availability on July 1. The move followed the lifting of earlier U.S. export controls that had restricted the model’s distribution.

In its announcement, Anthropic also proposed an industry-wide framework for scoring the severity of AI jailbreaks — attempts to bypass a model’s safety guardrails — saying it is developing the standard in partnership with Amazon, Microsoft, Google and other partners.

The export-control change was reported separately by CNBC, which said the Trump administration had lifted controls on both Claude Fable 5 and the higher-tier Mythos 5 in late June.

Fable 5 is available across Anthropic’s surfaces, including the Claude platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Cowork.

Why it matters for MENA

Export-control decisions directly shape which frontier AI models are legally available to businesses and developers outside the United States, including across the Middle East. A return to global availability removes a barrier for regional teams that had been unable to access the model.
